I'm looking in to rebuilding the transmission for this thing. The one I have is getting tired. They are about 100-150 at the yard so I was thinking about buying one, rebuilding that so all I have to do is swap them out. While doing research on the process I keep hearing the occasional tip that you need to reset the transmission adaptives in the PCM or you'll burn up the new transmission. I also hear that to do that a scan tool is required. I'm assuming they are referring to the DRB III. Is all of this true? Is there a way to wipe the transmission memory without a scan tool?
