Default Running Rich?

Someone told me after looking at my rear pipes that if I have black soot (which I do a little), then I'm running way too rich. Is this the case? I'm pretty sure just about every car I've owned had the black soot in the muffler pipe - including a lincoln I've owned before which passed emissions OK. Is this something I should be worried about? It's pretty cold here and I can see the exhaust is just white, not blue-ish.

I have a CAI, dual exhaust and superchip mod (performance program) installed. Has anyone had any emissions problems with their big D's recently?

Appreciate any input...

Black smoke is unburned fuel. Blue is oil. White is water. When you first start your car you burn extra fuel causing this color. If you pass emissions then I wouldn't ever worry about it. But in doubt replace your spark plugs
