Default 00 5.2L Transmission problems when cold

I've noticed that during these winter months, I've had a problem with shifting from 2 to 3 when the car first starts up for the day. When the engine is still warming up it feels like the trans is slipping from 2-3. Once I'm at normal OT, the trans is fine. I checked my fluid and I'm still in the lower portion of the OK grid. The check engine light just recently flipped on as well. Related perhaps?

I'm trying to avoid an $83 computer code check and a $90 trans inspection first to see if I could get some answers here. Thanks in advance!

Go to Auto Zone, They can read your computer codes for free and even reset them. Find out what the problem is before you try to buy parts that you don't need. Also use the search engine on the forum. There is a lot of info on this particular problem in Durango 1st generation.[&:]

Wow. Thats amazing. I called them and they confirmed that they will pull the codes for free. What a ripoff at the dealerships.

Yea, I just finished a little searching. TPS sounds like it may be one of the cultprits. Though, why it only happens when its cold, sounds more to me like the fluid isnt circulating like it should until the temp is normal. ??

You can also get the codes from a durango and most other dodge products by a key sequence then looking at the digital odometer. All you need to do is turn the key on, off, on, off, then the third time leave it in the on position and look at the odometer, it will show all codes in a p--- format and when it is done will say pdone. Most of the older dodge vehicles use the same key sequence, but rather than the odometer showing the code the check engine light would blink in a pattern indicating a numeric code in the end indicating a 55 to show it was complete.
