Default Tanny fluid and filter change (how much fluid)

2000 Durango, 5.9L V8, auto, 4x4

I am finishing up a tranny and filter change. The Chilton's manual says 3 pints are required for a fluid and filter change, but it appears as though I drained out a hell of a lot more. What is the standard amount for a fluid and filter change???? Thanks.

I believe it is more like 14.4 Quarts. Depends on which trans you have and pan. Make sure you put the right fluid back in. There are many different types of fluid.

Just dropping the pan and changing the fluid and filter, it wound up taking about 5 quarts. And yes, I did use the ATF for DC auto trannies. I'd read the same thing that the fluid you use was critical. Thanks.
