My hazard lights come on when I use the left turn signal. The 2002 SLT+ 4.7 Durango has been sitting for a couple of weeks because it is up for sale. Wouldn't you know this starts happening on the first test drive for a buyer![:@] Any advice? Something I can replace? I did not see a fuse marked for either the hazards or the turn signals

Do you have a tow package? It could be a problem with the wiring harness that causes this issue.

 

I do have a tow package. What sort of issue can that cause? Is it known to short somewhere?

 

The wiring harness for towing can do this on any vehicle. Mine shorted near the connector for the trailer because the guy at U-haul didn't connect the trailer lights properly (he used crimp connections on the vehicle harness and made a mess of it). I would check the connector to make sure it isn't corroded and the wiring 1-3 feet from the connector for shorts.

 

Check the hazard switch to make sure it's not pushed in halfway or pulled out partially.

 

Turns out it is a multi function switch which is the turn signal lever and guts in the steering wheel. Need to pull the wheel to fix.
