Default Cruise Control Problem with '99 Durango

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would greatly be appreciated... the cruise control on my '99 Durango no longer works. Whenever I press the button on the steering wheel to turn it on, the 'Cruise' light will turn on in the dash for a brief second and then turn off. If I immediately try again, I get nothing. Trying again later after the truck has been turned off will give me the same result. On the advice from a relative, I replaced the clock spring. All this did was allow the Cruise light to come on and stay on for a few more seconds. I tried holding up on the brake to see if something there was causing it... it wasn't. This morning on the way to work, I tried turning on the cruise while at a red light. The cruise light came on and stayed on for about 15 seconds until the red light changed to green and I moved. Couldn't get it to turn on again. Don't know if the timing of moving at the stop light was a coincidence or not but wanted to mention it.

One other thing that may or may not be related... the fog lights quit working. I turn the switch to turn on the lights and pull out to turn on the fog lights... they turn on and immediately go out. If I pull on the switch and hold it then the fog lights stay on. Once I let go, they go out.

Any suggestions would be great... especially about the cruise problem. I'm headed on a 12 hour drive to go skiing soon and would really like to use the cruise. Thanks.

Sounds like a bad switch for the foglights.

My '98 D has a pushbutton, haven't had any probs with that so far except once I pushed it thru the hole it sticks in..lol

I'll pick up a new switch and give it a try. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the help.
