99 Durango SLT plus 5.2 fincky AC
It's been a long time since I've been on here but I just wanted to see if anyone.has some insight on an AC problem im having. I've got a 1999 dodge durango SLT plus with the 5.2 and the a c has become extremely finicky. It will always work perfect if I bleed a little R134A out of the low side or put a few squirts in the low pressure side depending on ambient temp. What seems to be happening is too high of pressure at 95 degrees ambient temp and with the engine idling, so it cycles off the clutch but when its only 75 degrees ambient temp the next day, it will work at idle but cycle off the clutch at 2,000 rpm highway speed when the pressure drops. I really getting fed up messing with it everyday. Literally the pressure is either too high or too low, always. It did have a very small leak at the low pressure valve for 4-5 years. That is now repaired with the master cool valve repair tool. Sometimes while having the gauge on the low pressure side and idling the engine from cold to operating temp, it will spike low pressure into the red and keep the compressor running. I've been scratching my head at this for months and messing with it for years. I don't know if the accumulator is plugged in the orifice rube or what else is going on. The rear a c always blows cold. It seems to to happy idling at 38 PSI on the low side. That gets the front a c temperatures down to 49 degrees at 1500 rpm on a 90 degree day. It always changes with ambient temp the next day, though. No leaks that I can find. Thanks guys, Any help would be appreciated.
