Default CV joints and/or transfer?!

Hey guys,
I feel that my right outer cv joint is blown or about to blow because when I turn left at slow speeds close to full lock I get a grinding vibration and noise that is seemingly coming from the right and not close to the center of the cab. No noises or vibration when turning right. No noises or vibrations when going straight or even moderate turns whatsoever. This I can live with until I have cash to replace the right front drive. Now today I go to wash her and when backing out of the stall at sharp full right lock she's hopping like it's in 4WD yet I'm in 2WD. I have the transfer case with 2WD, PT4WD, FT4WD, N, 4WL and normally drive in FT4WD all the time because of snowy hiway conditions. After exiting the car wash and getting back on to the icy roads I hammered it and it fishtailed as I expected it would in 2WD but why the hop on dry pavement inside the car wash? I wasn't even in 4WD when I was in there and haven't been in PT4WD for days....only FT4WD as usual.
I shifted to 2WD just before entering the wash from FT4WD.

Could a bad CV cause the hop? Or could I be misdiagnosing the cv and the problem is actually the Transfer case?

Any similar experiences?

What can I do with a jack and jackstands etc (home tools) in order to test or verify a CV problem?

I had that same problem. It is almost like it's not out of 4WD and your getting axle bind hu? One thing I did before I had the transfer case rebuilt was after having it in 4WD is shift out, put it is reverse and back in drive, then back in reverse and back up a good 20'. This will make sure that the transfer case is fully out of 4WD. I haven't had the problem since I had the transfer case rebuilt. But after reading the owners manual and from past experiences's I continue to shift in with drive to reverse then back to drive, and when I shift out I shift back and forth between reverse and drive like the owners manual says, and back up a good 20'-30'. I haven't had that problem ever since. Although when I still turn really sharp I still get some axle bind but only a small bit. Can't figure that out yet. But I think it is just the limited slip and I need the fluid replaced.

Ya it does seem like I'm still in 4WD but the front wheels aren't being driven because I can fishtail it easy. It seems more now that I think of it that it could be a front diff problem. Strangely today I drove @50 miles in 2WD and the problem has gone away. Could be that it needed a bit of a work out due to the fact that I have it in AWD most of the time. I'm going to go ahead and do a front diff lube change and TC lube change....can't hurt. ****ty thing in this case is that mine has the full skid plate package so more wrenching.
BTW the front doesn't have limited slip does it? or were you talkin about your rear diff.

Just in case it's interesting, here's my original window sticker with options and specs (Canadian Dollars).

Yes. The front diff dose have limited slip that I'm pretty sure. Now you were getting axle bind. The transfer case wasn't fully locked out. It is probably getting worn a small bit and having problems shifting all the way out. Just make sure you do what I said and make sure it's all the way out. Also make sure you put the right fluid in the case.
