I'm not sure what is up with my a/c. The rear air blows freezing cold. The front air is warm. Could this be a blend door problem? Or could it possibly just need charging. My 99 Durango has all these little things at once. The rear diff sensor, rear power windows dont work, passenger side rear door lock works sometimes and makes a totally embarrassing sound. I've only got 75k on it. ERRRRRG.

I charged ours with very little improvement
Got it charged by Firestone. Better, but not enough to justify the money.
We have the overhead rear air also.
I installed a shut off for the heater hose to keep the hot water out for the summer but it did very little at best.
No one seems to know why they lose cooling.

 

I would say it may be the blend door problem. If the rear is freezing cold, you got enough freon. you surely do not want to add more freon than what is required as it will cause your compressor to prematurely go out.

My heater core went out on my D and after they replaced my heater core and re-installed the blend door and box assembly and what not, my A/C cooling improved quite a bit. I can keep my cabin cool at the front with the fan speed setting set at second from lowest speed. Also, when I am not using A/C and just venting outside air, the air temperature was much cooler after the heater core replacment.

 

Did you fix the horrific sound on the lock my durango 2000 makes a horrific sound too when i lock the door or open the locks for the doors, dont know where to start to fix. Could you help.

Ive got a 99 Durango 5.9 Magnum...
Same ****les with the A/C...and I live in Saudi Arabia...!!
Luke cold front air and ice cold rear...its OK, I just set it to max for a few mins and then switch off A/C to the rear cabin once its cool enough. This blend door issue may be worth exploring since dealer has tested charge and says ok...
rear driver side door always makes funny buzz noise when unlocking as well, but works...
