PCM and Trans module conflict
Hi, new here hope this is the right place to ask. If not I would appreciate being pointed in the correct direction
This started with a check engine lamp, soft 1-2, slide and shudder into 3rd.
Stored code indicated fault in solenoid pack or controlling system.
Solenoid pack is reported to be not an uncommon issue with the 45RFE transmission.
TCM reported as not a common failure
Dropped pan, no material found at all.
Checked and did not locate any wiring faults
Dropped disassembled valvebody cleaned and checked.
Checked for damaged accumulators and for cracked-broken springs as well as spring plate.
Reassembled with new solenoid pack and filter (2)
Mopar ATF 4
Code did not reset and although somewhat abrupt at times, original issues appeared solved.
Still has shifting issues.
On a OTC scanner I found a
Data conflict between Powertrain Control Module and Transmission Control Module
TPS and RPM.
This may or may not have been present before, just not checked for.
All grounds between PCM and body tested ok
All grounds between TCM and body tested ok
Continuity on PCM power (5volt) between PCM and TPS
Continuity on TPS ground
Continuity signal wire from TPS, PCM and TCM
TPS replaced, no change to readings (not really expected to)
Is it programming or hard part issue?
As I said above, could someone point me in the right direction.
I am leaning toward changing the TCM but it is no small amount of change to gamble.
I just can't see what else could cause the discrepancy between the PCM and TCM.
Thanks for any info or help,
Gerry
Sounds like a trans input sensor or output sensor. Go to the dealer for your parts. Also you might have put the wrong ATF fluid in it. My D takes ATF+3. Depending on your year it might be ATF+4, Im not too sure. There is a difference between them though. If you put in the wrong fluid you need to have it flushed with the right fluid.
