Default belt/engine squeak ?

I have a 2000 2wd durango and it's just started to squeak intermittantly, at first it sounded like a slipping belt but that seems OK and the belt is pretty new and the tensioner is still within it's correct range. It is begining to sound like a dry bearing or something could it be the AC compressor is on the way out?

Any ideas would be helpful.

before you condemn any bearings, get a can of brake-clean and spry the belt with a small amount and see if noise goes away. If it changes or goes away , the belt is the problem. During damp conditions, serp belts are known to squeek at times and it goes away when the weather drys out a little. One fix, if the belt is not old, is to lightly sand the belt in the grooves to remove glaze. That quiets down the belt for a while.

I would just replace the belt. It's easy and inexpensive to do. I'd be willing to bet that's the problem. (If you want to call it a problem) Mine makes the same noise when it is humid or wet outside. I'm not worried about it.
