Durango differential ??
Novice here.
1998 Durango - 4-whell drive - smaller V8.
My son is driving from Denver to San Diego and the front differential goes out in the middle of nowhere, Utah (Salina).
Shop says $1000 and at least until Friday.
HELP!!!
I was told that they could disconnect (remove?) the front drive shaft and he could then drive with 2-wheel drive the remaining 600 miles. Mechanic just told him - in a word "no".
OR - Can the hubs be disconnected some way let the wheels turn (and stay on the car) and not turn the differential.
Can anyone confirm this for me? 4 days in Salina is nobodys dream.
Thanks, David

The wheels are locked all the time. Sorry to tell you there is nothing you can do. The only thing you could do is cut the drive shafts off right at the knuckle. You could pick up a U-Haul trailer and go get him. You have to tow your D with all four wheel's off the ground.
