Default Please help... 2000 Duramgo

I am having a problem with my Durango. It idles at 500 RPMs... when I take of it shifts hard but after it hits about 2000 RPM's. Then when crusing at 65 MPH the RPM is at 2000 which is normal but it tend to kick alot. Like it wants to shift or it may be the fuel. I have no idea. The RPM's raise to alittle over 2000 RPMS and then Back down to 2000 RPMS. it still kicks. Can anyone help.

you may want to have a local garage take a look at it , i used to have a 99 durango that did that and i took it to the garage and it was a sensor on the tranny and they fixed it in one day and total cost was roughly 65.00

My 2000 used to do that with the cruise control on. Never had it fixed before I traded it in though. Let us know what it ends up being.

I had a similar problem on my 2000 Durango. For the past few months, the RPM would fluctuate back and forth between 1000 and 1700 at idle and would shift hard once in a while. Last week when I came to a stoplight, the engine light came on, it started idling really rough and had absolutlely no power when I tried to take off. After I shut it off, it wouldn't start again. The problem ended up being a bad crankshaft positioning sensor. After it was replaced, all of the idling issues went away.

Just a thought.

Default I almost had the same problem... vehicle would not shift properly.

I had a check engine light come one and viewed the code via the speedometer which came out to be PO720 error. Speed Sensor.

Purchased part at AutoZone for $24. or less and replaced it in 10 minutes using a vehicle lift at the base Auto Craft Shop. It fixed my problem.

Here is a link that shows how to work your Dango.

Hope this helps, if it is the same problem.
