Default Fuel gauge problems

Hi all,
Recently my fuel gauge has been dropping to zero and then shooting back up to original position over and over again. The overhead console which tells the distance till empty mileage reads OC when needle drops to zero. Could it be the ethanol used in the gas now? It started around the same time ethanol was introduced.
Thanks

How many miles on your Durango? And what year.

You most likely have a fuel sender going out . You need a gauge tester, and a ohms meter to check them.. Find the sender electrical connection back by the tank, and check the ohms reading. Aprox..25 empty, 90 omh full. APROX!
Check the gauge with tester, connected to the other end going to the gauge.ON NEWer it goes to the PCM, and can be checked with a Diag tool. Hope this helps.
