cable broke now how do i get it open

A friend of mine had this happen to his civic. It takes a screwdriver and a whole lot of grunting at the hood latch to pry open the the first hook.

Or.... you can just trace the cable under the car and see if ya can get far enough down it and try pair of needle noses. Mine Snapped on an older car but it was right at the fire wall so i just found it.
