Looking at a used D, any advice?
If Gas mileage is your concern and you like towing, you may want to shop around for a 5.9 but in 2wd instead of 4wd.
Buy a 2000 as the oldest model. It has a refined steering system using rack and pinion instead of that recirculating ball joint that exists on the 98-99 models. Turning radius is much smaller and tighter. Also, you may qualify for the front Ball joints recall if the 2000-2003 model you found did not have the recall performed on it.
The 2001-2003 models, the interior has changed.
The A/C now offers dual zones in front and a dedicated 3rd zone in back. The A/C vents has been relocated to the sides for the 2nd and 3rd row seats to clear the top space for possible DVD entertainment system console. The rear A/C also provide heat.
The dash layout has been refined as well as the information cluster panel.
If you get a 4WD, you will not see the manual gear shifter on the floorboard, you will have the electronic 4x4 switch on the dash console.
Also, I am not sure if it is starting 2001, but a 5 speed auto is available only for the 4.7 engine package.

Gas mileage really isnt that important, as I've had cars in the past with worst gas mileage. I also live in MI, so i need 4wd, if not for the winter, then for wheeling. Thanks again for all the help so far. I got someone coming out to look at my car tonight, if it sells, then I will be prolly picking up a durango by the end of the week. Look for more questions from me once i get it.

OK, i found a 2000 R/T with 80k miles on it for $8k. Going to go take a look at it, it seems a little to good to be true, butt we'll see. Also, are RTs AWD, or still 4WD?

Yes, all durango R/T models uses the AWD drivetrain. Thus we get the worst gas mileage of all the D's.
I am glad I got the SLT rather than the R/T the differences are too small and I can take mine off road much more seriously than any R/T. Also stock #'s on the SLT 0-60 and 1/4 mile are only .1 seconds behind the R/T. If you don't intend on ever going off road I'm sure it's road manners are better than mine but w/e. Where do you live to because I found tons of D's here all over the NYC area with low mileage. No more high mileage used vehicles for me.
I hear you on the high mileage thing. I'll have to check out autotrader around the NYC area. I live in MI, but have no problem traveling to pick up a D. I would want to go through a dealer, as i need a loan. And i need to sell my car first. Its hard to sell a convertible in the summer when itrs been raining like crazy lately.
