Default D was Overheating now its fine

I posted a few months ago that my 99Durango was overheating. I had replaced the water pump, new radiator and thermostat and was pondering the idea of installing a electric fan. I was going to get the Viper fan after receiving many ideas and opinions that installing the fan would be the best way for my D to run cooler. MEMORY REFRESHED?

OK, well after doing more research and finding out that I would have to buy more equipment besides the fan, I came across the Flex-A-Lite Black Magic Extreme from TruckPerformance.com. It came with everything I needed to install and very easy to follow instructions and above all the relays and hook up all in one item, except for running the wires, which is not that hard. I paid $200 for it and it works GREAT!! I'm in chicago and been a pretty bad heat wave coming thru here, it runs perfect at 88 to 97 degrees, last 2-3 day been about 99 and with heat index feels like 103-110 and it still runs good, temp gauge gets a bit over 210 but not higher than that.

So anyone thinking of getting or swapping your fan clutch for an electric fan, i think its worth it.

Now thinking if I can turn my OEM hood into or replacing it to get a workable ram air. Does anyone know how to do this?

Appreciate any advise.
Thanks

That is interesting. But I guess for us Durango owners that has the towing package, which has a 2nd auxillary cooling fan in addition to the regular clutch fan, This setup may not be ideal. The OEM electric fan is pretty big. Almost fills the surface circumference area of the radiator. My temp goes over the 210 but not by much. I cannot complain much on that as Texas weather here is hot! every day for almost a month, we been holding from 99-103! I cannot phantom what the heat index may be.

What I like to do is find a way to set the temperature threshold to have the auxillary fan kick in when it goes just past the 210 mark. I do not know what the set limit is, but assume it must be pretty high and I do not want it to be set that high. The engine may be gone with the wind by then.

Here is a link for a ram air hood. http://www.keystonerestyling.com/

Also here is a link to a past post that shows what they look like installed. https://dodgeforum.com/m_346269/tm.htm

I would love to see someone having that ram air hood with a supercharger kit. I guess there may be some serious custom modding on plumbing the air conduits!
