2000 5.9L Durango engine & transmission problem
I have a 2000 Durango 4x4 SLT 5.9L with 70,000 miles. I love the vehicle but I have developed two problems.
The first issue is a fast engine idle (1500-2000 RPM) usually after I have driven for a while (125miles).
The second issue I have is a transmission that sticks in 2nd gear on acceleration unless I lift off the gas. This problem seems to be more of an issue in colder weather. It has all but disappeared now that summer is here.
Does anyone have any ideas about either of these issues?

fast engine idle could be your TPS (throttle position sensor located on your throttle body) you can pick one up from napa.
transmission sticking could be time for a fluid change & band adjustment
just possibilities
hope that helps
