Default Engine light on

I have a 2000 Durango with the 4.7 engine. It is running like crap. The engine light is on. The code is P0171. My Chilton's manual say it has to do with a fuel/air mixture problem. What does that mean?
I have recently replaced the O'2 sensors and the spark plugs. It runs better than it did before, but I still get that code. [:@]
Any help would be appriciated.

This is what the code means. P0171 (M) 1/1 Fuel System Lean A lean air/fuel mixture has been indicated by an abnormally rich correction factor. Don't know if that helps or not.

After replacing the o2 sensor did you unhook the battery and reset the cpu. This will erase the code. If it comes back than the problem isn't solved yet.

Yes I did reset the code. I know that P0171 means 1/1 Fuel System Lean A lean air/fuel mixture has been indicated by an abnormally rich correction factor. I just don't know where to go to correct the problem. The exhaust smells pretty nasty also. The books don't really tell you how to trouble shoot and I really don't want to go to the dealer if this is something I can do.

First make sure you put in the OEM plugs. You might have a bad injector. Also have the Catalatic Converter checked out.
