Default transmission 3.99->3.55

I own a 99 durango and was wondering if it's expensive to replace 3.92 transmission by 3.55 standard transmission. I don't tow anything so 3.92 is pretty much useless and waste of gas.

I think all you need to do is change the gears in the rear end and nothing in the transmision.

To be honest there is virtually no difference in gas mileage between a 3.55 rear end geared Durango and a 3.92. Dude, you should keep them!

I will have to disagree with you on this. Especially with the 04's. The 3.92's will pull more RPM's this decreasing gas mileage. On the 04's it is at a minimum of 2 mpg.
