Hello guys. It has been a while since I have been on this site since I sold my Dodge Ram Pickup. I am now in the market to buy a used Durango. Just trying to get some info on things that I should look for on a 1st gen. Are there any known problems that I should look out for? I know quite a bit about the 5.9 motor since that is what I had in my Pickup. Most of the Durangos I have looked at have the 5.2. Is there anything I should look out for on this motor? Dont want to ramble on but any info you guys could give me would be great. I like to do my research before I jump into buying a used vehicle. Thanks in advance for anything you can help me out with.

You would probably have better luck in the Durango section.

Anyway the 5.2L and 5.9L are very close. I like the 5.9L. It also has a bigger trans. But eather way you can't go wrong. Although I like the power of my 5.9L!

Anyways, the 5.2 was replaced in later years on the D by the 4.7. The 5.9 is reliable and the big brother of the 5.2. The 4.7 has it's own idiosyncracies, not bad, just different.

Any 5.2L D is an older model interior.
