91 or beter is considered Premium.

On the R/T, 91 octane or better is recommended.

Standard SLT/SLT+ can use anything better than 87 octane.

I have a 99 5.9 SLT+. I run Chevron reg (87) with a bottle of Techron once every 3 months. My 5.9 runs perfect. IMO only run Chevron!!

Drew,

If you have an R/T, the manual will state that you need Premium.

However, I have a 2000 R/T, and I use regular unleaded. I notice no
engine knock or decrease in performance.

It probably has a knock sensor so that it's safe to run regular in it. But I am surprised that you notice no decrease in performance, that's usually the trade-off.

I thought I would too. However I haven't. I do not drive it that hard however. I thought I would notice it
pulling my boat ( 5,000 lbs) but I didn't

My R/T HATES regular. Engine was spitting and coughing on that regular stuff. Never did that again.
