Default Durango keeps cutting off...

Each time I start the truck, it shuts off if I don't keep my foot on gas. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Thanks

Does it run for a bit and then shut off or will it not start at all?

It will start, but as soon as you release the gas it shuts off,

Hmm...A similar thing happend to my brother in law's Dakota. It just shut off and then when he let off the gas it would just shut off. Let me try to remember what he did.

Hold the gas down a little and start it and dont let it die, If I can remember correctly he checked the air filter on it and let it run like that for a little bit.

But he just kept starting it and kept holding the gas and within a few minutes it worked fine and he hasent had a problem with it since.

I'll get back on you with exactly what he did to it.

My D did the same thing recently, I had the battery checked found it was bad, changed the battery and it fired up and ran fine.
Have your battery checked it might be your problem.

IAC motor on the back of the TB is either stuck or dead. yank it and the TB off and clean it up real good. if that doesnt fix it, then the IAC motor is bad and needs to be swapped out.

when you clean the TB, make sure you blow all the gunk out of small air passages. that should fix it right up. This is a common problem with an easy fix.

while you have the TB off, look down into the intake manifold for oil pooling at the bottom of it. a light film is ok, pooling is not. if you see pooling, your plenum gasket is leaking and should be fixed. this is responsible for poor performance and pinging.

A periodic problem on this vehicle is failure of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Failure of the PCM may cause an intermittent stalling condition and can also prevent the vehicle from starting, also the failure of the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor. Failure of the CKP Sensor will prevent the vehicle from starting.
