Default Help needed! new buyer.

I am looking at buying a 99 Durango tomorrow morning but I am not sure if I should I have read allot of reviews talking about how unreliable the durango mechanical wise. I would love feedback from actual owners I am thinking about a honda cvr if I do not get the durango.

Well I would just say no to the CRV [:'(]. It's an ugly car and if you are going to go foreign I'd say get the 4 Runner. As far as the Durango do you know what size engine you want. The 5.2 (318) and the 5.9 (360) are very solid engines. The 4.7 has a sludge problem and I would say stay away from that and the trannies in these things leave a lot to be desired as far as reliability but if you find someone that could do a solid rebuild (talk to hydrashocker on that and he could give you some good recommendations on what to do) then you won't have any problems once it goes. I would also check for recalls on your model year (look at the announcement area for those or run the VIN # on dodge's website). I love my D but I have had tranny issues they have been worked out now and I was able to complete my move without any issues and that was 1,700 miles. Pull the plugs and check for fouling and signs of wear. Check your fluids for the proper levels and smell them to make sure that they aren't burnt. If you don't know how to do these things bring your mechanic and have them check out the D for you. One more point of advice I would look for a lower mileage D if the one you are interested in has high miles. I was able to get mine for $10,500 with a little less than 30k miles. Good luck with your decision.

one good thing about getting one is that there is so much info on this site that almost any problem you have has been discussed and can be resolved pretty quickly. I'd get the D over the honda anyday...
