Default evaporator unit

2000 d r/t 66 k a/c not blowing cold my mechanic thinks its the evaporater unit and about 900 bucks to fix. He did not take it apart but was an educated guess, said he has seen it b4. Is this a common problem? can he make this guess without taking it apart. Dodge dealer said this is not a common problem and may be something simpler. What do u guys think, thks

Default RE: evaporator unit

yeah if it doesn't hold charge and dont see any leaks in engine compartment that is what it is.

That happened to us and the price to fix is about right. They have to take a part the whole freaking dash to get to it [:@]
