Default Losing Oil Pressure

I have a 99 5.9L 360 V8 4x4. We got it a year ago, it had an oil change at the dealership. We changed it 3000 miles later at 80.5K. It wasn't due until 83.5K but we started losing pressure & changed it at 83K. We totally lost pressure this time at 85.5K. Quite early for any vehicle if you ask me.
I did some internet searches "Dodge Engine Loses Oil Pressure" and found on ConsumerAffairs.com & mycarstats.com a large number of complaints about this leading to total engine failure from Sludge.
I don't want to have to replace an engine, period. I would like to know if this is a known problem here and/or any suggestions to save my engine. I read that "Engine Flush" is a good thing but my Dad said it's more trouble than it's worth.
And yes, the oil looks darker than it should for just 2500 miles.
Thanks in advance & if I forgot something, feel free to ask.

Sounds like you lost your oil pump and it needs to be replaced. Hi capacity ones from what 've seen are normally not needed but you can upgrade to on if you want.
I hope you didn't blow your engine. [:@]Anyway the problem with sludge buildup is only in the 4.7L not the 5.2L/5.9L. There is a miss conception there. Normal life on a oil pump is approx. 100K so you are close.

Yeah I had actually switched over to full synthetic to fight the sludge problem that I thought my D had only to find out it was only in the 4.7's. If I did have a 4.7 though it wouldn't have helped a bit but now I know.
