Default Rear Heat in my '03

When I have the heat on - the rear blows cold air. It does this with both the front or rear controls. Anyone have any idea as to why this would be happening?

Help my kids are freezing!

there's a valve somewhere called the "HVAC" valve or some such name. It's not a user-servicable part. $600.

extra blanket $20

My '01 just started doing same thing! Everything else seems to work- all controls front and rear, fan speed, direction- but rear vents blows cold air. Not sure about if AC will be chilled air or warm in summer. Any other possibilities and easier non dealer fixes?? Hate to put another grand in a 6 year old SUV.

Check left fenderwell under the hood and towards the back to locate your Aux Coolant Pump. Make sure both input and output hose are warm when engine is running. This pump circulates coolant back to your rear heater core, and may be the issue.
If so, dealer gets $90-$125 for the part and an other $100-$150 if they install it.

If pump is ok, then the other item above may be your culprit. Good luck.
