2000 Durango 4.7 low idle & stalls
I own a 2000 4.7L Durango that stalls when the engine is cold and I come to a stop.
This stall occurs when the AC is disengaged (Idle drops to~600RPM - is this normal?); if I engage the AC (idle rises to ~800RPM) stalling will not occur. When I come to a stop the idle dropsto less than500RPM and can'trecover to normal idle speed and then theengine stalls.
Dodge Dealer could not find any cause...but they did seem to find many other issues: replacedheads, 1 injector, and upgraded PCM firmware (not sure what old & new versions were/are).
I'verelplaced plugs, battery,IAC, and TPS without any change.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I cleaned the throttle body intake.
Low idle does appear to be a bit smoother; however itstill occassionally stalls when I come to a stop.
It's pretty easy to make itstall when I brake harder than normal.
Thanks again.

Maybe adjust the throttle cable to open up a bit more to keep the rpm's up a little higher. I'm not sure where the 4.7's are supposed to idle at. Also if you haven't done a tune up in a while it sounds like now is the time.
Our 03 4.7 Durango had the same problems, we replaced tps and iac with no help, took to a tranny shop, found a busted seal on one of the filters at the bottom of the tranny under the pan. Stopped the stalling problem right away and truck runs smoother now, however we still have the low idle prob, still acts like it wants to die when idling, ours sits at idle around 595 rpm, no matter if it's in park or not. If you find a solution please let us know, we've been told to clean the throttle body, and that it might be that the tps was not from dealer and was after market part so it may not function properly, they say the after market parts are made to fit more than one vehicle, so they leave too much room for error.?

I've had this problem and pulled my hair out trying to fix it!!! many times!
I used to drive with ac on too! Wouldn't stall... butt really not good for gas mileage and my electric fan went because of it.
long story short.... it's the power steering pressure sensor!! Cheap part and takes less than 5 minutes to change. I'm a chick and had no problem... although I've replaced more parts on this dam truck then I'd like lol I can clean the throttle body in my sleep I've done it so many times trying to figure out this stalling crap! MAP sensor done, TPS done, IAC done, every dam hose for vacum lines I could find... fuel pump (that was fun) blower motor... all didn't work! I've got a 01 4.7 this truly was the fix though. Changed it fixed problem them 2.5 years later did the same thing, changed it and fixed again. Hope I help someone with this phantom problem. Truck didn't throw a code either!
good luck,
