Noisy Rear End
I recently bought a 2000 Durango 4.7. It had a grinding noise in the rear end when I test drove it so the dealer changed out the bearings, races, etc... All was quiet for about 2,000 miles. Now a whiring noise has started. It comes from the rear differential. The pitch is relative to the rotation speed of the rear wheels. The faster the rotation the higher the pitch. No difference if it's in or out of gear. I see no drips on the garage floor.
Take it back.
All DCX repairs are good for a 12 month warranty. You should be fine. Sounds like they didn't put in enough fluid and the rear end is bad again. That or the problem that caused it to go out in the first place wasn't fixed, they treated just the symptoms.
