Default ENGINE TEMP ?

HI folks

I own a 2000 5.9 R/T up here in Canada , my question is : what should be the normal operating temperature in winter wheater ?
At around -10 Celsius to -20 Celsius my gauge doesnt reach the center ! The thermostat is a195 F brand new... is it the normal operating temperature ? If i remember it was going higherr at summer temps ....

Here in Wisconsin my 98 Durango (5.2L)runsbetween 190F-210F in the winter, depending on how cold it is.

195 is about right with your t-stat... if you're going much higher you may want to take a good look at your cooling system...

195 is the OEM temp on your ride. When it gets cold like that the motor pulls small amounts of coolant inside because the coolant is so cold it cools down the motor quickly. The T-stat gets warm and opens and a lot of coolant runs through pulling that really cold coolant into the motor keeping the motor running a small bit cooler. It tricks the T-stat and then it closes slowly allowing a lot of cold coolant into the motor. Then it does it again over and over.

195 sounds about right. Since there's no numbers between 130 and 220(?), it's hard for meto judge.

If your motor is never reaching 195 you might want to check to make sure your thermostat isn't stuck open.
