Default new cam?

I love the sound of a car/truck with a more aggressive cam, and the performance gains are always a plus! I'm just trying to find out some info about what kind of cam I can put in my D. Its a 4.7L, but I may be looking for a 5.2L towards this coming fall. Just lookin for general info/opinions/where to buy. Also what should I be looking to beef up in my cylinder heads to go along with a more agressive cam?

Deerang:
Since your 4.7 engine is an overhead cam engine, you have two cams instead of one.
One on top of each head.
There is a factory HO cam and intake for the 4.7 motor, but IMO it is pricey and the cam install is mildly complex. An OHC install is not like the cam in block installs that any of remember on our favorite old small block.

I conducted some research for myself, and decided that for me the 20 or so HP to be gained at top end was not worth the money and possible reliability issues.

Instead, I am swapping my part time transfer case for the factory NV244 full time case soI can enjoy the benefit of my 4x4 in all weather conditions.

Thanks Don. Yea 20 horsepower isn't worth the what I assume to be about a $1,000 install for the new cam and install. There is a lot more stuff that I could spend that money on.

Have you come across anything for the 5.2L in ur research? That has the good old fashioned cam in it.

The cam install isn't too bad. You should definately DIY. There are plenty of write-ups on how to do it.

I'm curious about what kinda of prices and performance gains I'd be looking at from a more agrsseive cam. What kinds others have and what they have to say about it.
