On Board Computer codes 2001 Durango
I read somewhere that there is a procedure for recalling computer codes using the ignition switch and the odometer. The codes appear in the odometer window/meter. As a matter of fact I did this about three years ago to find an error which turned out to be the O2 sensor. The error was correct. Now I can't remember how to do this nor can I find the source of this info on the internet. The vehicle owner's manual seems not to have it nor does the factory manual that I have. (Or else I just can't find the infor in these two sources.) Does anyone know this procedure of on-board error diagnosis without using an extermal device. This is built-in the vehicle. It's a 2001 Durango 4.7 L 2WD.
To find your code, turn the key in the ignition to the following sequence run - off - run - off - run
Your error code will appear in the odometer.
There is a list at the top of the forum telling you what all the error codes mean.
To reset the codes disconnect then reconnect the battery.
