Default 2000 Durango after driving 2 minutes wont start

Hi all,

I just bought a 2000 with a 4.7 and after driving around for 2-3 minutes I shut it off and it won't start..... It cranks and cranks, almost like its not getting any gas, but after mashing the gas a couple of times it starts. The problem doesn't happen if I drive the vehicle for longer than 10 minutes. I have replaced the TP sensor and that did nothing.

Any Ideas?

Thanks!

Bad fuel pump maybe? Go get you system pressure tested or DIY. There are a few posts on here about what to look for just do a search on it at the bottom. of the page.

What do you idle at? Maybe your throttle cable is set too low?

How cold is it where you are?

Are you getting good spark? Check to see what the plugs look like, if they are Bosch Platinums that is probably your problem.

Check your fignition system good for signs of where; cap, rotor, wires.

Also you might want to try runnig some injector cleaner and some higher octane gas a couple of times.

Go buy some sea foam and clean out your intake manifold. You can run it through the top of your throttle body, or through the vaccum line coming off of your brake booster.

+1 on the seafoam

I put it down the brake booster in my truck and it cleaned it out really good. it idled better and had better throttle response. do a search in the dak section on sea foam. there is acouple of them over there.
