as long as I have ownedit(6 months) the 3rd break light has neverworked on my Durango. Is this a common problem or just a bulb?

I think it's just bulbs. My 98's 3rd brake light is out. You can get an LED based replacement off of eBay, but I'm sure the bulb(s) are a much cheaper solution.
