questionable swap
i was told today by a local wrecking yard that i could put a 5.9 out of a 94 dodge van(the big 1,not the caravan) into my durango. i want it to be true$$$, but it didnt sound right to me. anybody hurd of this or know if it is a do-able swap.?
thanks
thanks
What size motor do you have in your Durango now?
You probably could but you would never get a tag for it if you have emisions where you live! 94 is OBD1 and all Durangos are OBD2. It would not be worth it to do the swap, it would be cheaper to sell your Durango and go buy a used one with a 5.9 already in it.

thanks for the info. we do not have emmisions in ohio(least not any i have been told about). me and my mechanic wer discussing using parts from this engine to fix mine rather than doing a a full swap. i just wondered wer the parts interchangable. i seen on this site wer a guy said a obd2 was like $1100. good lawd lol
If your '99 is a 5.9 the usual swapped items may be necessary but it will work. Your PCM, CTM and brakes (if Antilock) will more than likely not. If you have a 5.2L, don't even try.
I'd suggest a 5.9 speced for the D (new, used or rebuilt) and perhaps just a new D depending on your paticulars.
