1999 Durango light problem....
Hello everyone, im new here as well as being a new durango owner. I have a 1999 SLT that runs pretty good now, but im haveing an issue with the fog lights on it. I thought the bulbs were bad, so i replaced them.... no good, so i replaced the relay and that still didnt fix them. I unplugged one of the lights and grounded my tester to the frame to check if i was getting power to the socket. Heres the weird thing, both sides of the plug are hot. I know this cant be right, can it? I have tried everything i can think of so if anyone has any ideas on this i would appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
make sure when ur testing the plug on the meter that the meter prong is not crossing the two contacts in the foglight plug something that happens without you noticing all the time
If you really are getting power too the socket then Mean has got to bet right! The bulb must not be making contact to the metal leads in th socket.
If you where mistaken and it is not getting power check the relay then check the switch, the 99's switch for the fog lights was not a very good design. On mine the plastic melted around the contacts, I put a screw in it so I wouldn't have the problem if it melted off again.
