Default having problems with 2 codes

so the otherday my check engine light came on and i figured i would check it out as soon as i got a chance, but i had to drive the rango for work sunday and it ended up getting really bad gas milage...i mean REAL bad[&:]......for work i drive about 190 miles round trip, well it ended up taking me 1 full tank + 1/2 tank to get me back home....and it barely did that, the gas light was burried below the E mark when i finally got home ($70.00 later)....and it might be my math, but that seems like alot of gas to get 190 miles[:@]...

so i just went outside and checked the codes with my laptop and this is what i came up with:
P1682 powertrain: driver 5 line 2
and
P0171 powertrain: fuel trim system lean bank 1

my problem is that i have no idea what these codes mean.....and i need this thing to be the gas hungry beast it was before again by friday, just not how it is now

the truck still runs great and starts fine, you can just watch the gas gauge go down if you sit and stare at it

please help[&:]

P0171 (M) 1/1 Fuel System Lean A lean air/fuel mixture has been indicated by an abnormally rich correction factor.

P1682 (G) Charging System Voltage Too Low Battery voltage sense input below target charging voltage during engine operation and no significant change in voltage detected during active test of generator output circuit.
P1682 Charging System Voltage Too Low Charging system output voltage low.

Check to see if your altenator is working correctly. Also, check to see if you have fouled out your spark plugs.

A map sensor could cause consumption of excessive fuel. Also what about a IAC sensor.

In my experiencing owning a D, do not depend on the sensors going out and throwing a code. They can be on the way out and not give a code. An example of this is the TPS sensor. My TPS went out but not enough to tell the PCM it is bad. I knew the TPS was out because of my engine surging issues when using the cruise control. Also, as my D approached the 70k mark, I went ahead and replaced both my tranny and speed sensors as well and it seemed to helped my tranny respond better to throttle response.
