Default cooling problems

Alright the fan clutch and blade are new.. water pump is new... coolant is new and thermostat is new but i am still overheating. What possibly could be the problem of me overheating now. the fan works fine but i might be thinking something is wrong with my radiator. When i get going down the road it stays at 210 but if i start going redlight to redlight (traffic) the car starts going up to 240-50 almost completely overheating.. Any suggestions on what i could check or get?

Also i have these 2 Check Engine codes that also have came up in the last week. 1757 and 1762 and i looked them up and it has to do with transmission and how it shifts. Just shifting out of 1st is the only problem it has but other gears are just fine.... what should i do?

You might try having the radiator boiled out. My sons Ram 1500 was having the same problems so I took it to a radiator shop and had them remove the radiator and boil it, since having that done we havn't had any problems with it overheating.
I was also having the same problem with the transmission in my Durango ended up having it rebuilt.

Usually the car getting hotter while stopped and cooling off under speed is a sign that the fan clutch has gone bad. I wouldn't dought that you got a bad fan clutch if you bought it at a quickie store. But if you think it is a radiator problem then it is probably partially clogged. You can check to see if that is it by bringing the car up to temperature and putting your hand right up next to different parts of the radiator. It should feel roughly the same temerature at all arts of the radiator. If any part feels significant;y cooler than the other parts then you know that is the area that is clogged.

I would recomend just buying a new radiator than having it repaired because it will only cost a little more for a new one and you know it will work.

Well here is the thing. I bought a new fan clutch from Advance Auto Parts. When i first start the car every morning i can hear the fan clutch working cause it makes the loud roar and the it just dies off after about 20 secs moving up the driveway. I am not sure what exactly the fan clutch is suppose to do at higher speeds. Is it still pulling air at higher speeds or is it there to pull air at idle speed? But the radiator i put in it was a used one so i suppose its not very good

Okey, I have done these same things this past weekend. New Water Pump, New Radiator hoses, New Fan Clutch. Now my temperature gauge has been fluctuating oddly. The check gauges light comes on and the gauge goesto the red then it canfall back to the center of the normal range. I cannot predict what will make the needle move (speed, vent, heater, a/c, etc.). Along with this wild fluctuation, the car intermittently blows cold air when theHEATER is on, this is when the gauge starts to the red. I have heard that my coolant level may be low? But it seems too full if anything? Is it really suppose to be almost to the top of the radiator cap (not the overflow cap)when my engine isfully cold? I'm waiting to see when it gets cool again. Any advice would help. By the way, mywater pumpwas toast, it would barely even rotate without grinding when removed! And, I bought my parts from AutoZone, except for the hoses, they don't have the ones for R/Ts, they say they do, but they don't fit. I have no problems with the fan, fan clutch, or water pump that I know of. They sound and look fine. Thanks for any advice!!

the fan clutch is supposed to be stiff enough to pull enough air at idle to cool the radiator, but at cruising speed it should loosen so it does not spin with the motor because you get enough air blowing against the radiator. You could have a defective fan clutch. After you take it out and get the engine warm turn it off and check the clutch, if it spiins freely or makes a full rotation it is probably no good. It doesn't have enough stiffness to pull any air at idle.

Did you do the hand trick to your radiator? If it is a used one that could very well be your problem. they can gunk up if htey have been sitting for too long in a jnk yard. Chekc 1800Radiator and see what a new one costs.

Rango,
You didn't mention if you changed the thermostat? Sounds like your problem, not getting coolant thoughout your system, or enough coolant. Check the top and bottom radiato hoses, if one is really hotter than the other. You could have air in your system too. The coolant should be at the top of the radiator cap when it is hot and the overfl;ow should also be at the fill line.

...and stop buying parts from AutoZone!

Thanks for the advice. I thinkI got it fixed.I let it cool, filled the radiator with coolant/water, purged the air and it's been fine. I drove all day over 40 miles and no overheating. It also runs more like it should/did before problems.
Mike, Ialso want to ask howdoyou add pictures here? Can you PM me to let me know, Thanks!
