oil pressure switch starting to fail?
My oil pressuer gauge will sometimes drop to "0" and cause the "check gauges" light to pop on. Once the light comes on the oil pressure gauge shoots right back up to normal and the light goes out. It doesn't do it very often and it does it mostly when I am braking. I am pretty sure i am not loosing my oil pressure but I am not sure what is causing it to do this.
I have never seen O/P switches doing this in any other car so it makes me think it is maybe a bad wire connection, but I am not sure if Dodge p/p switches react different than some other types.
The oil feed line to my supercharger is coming from the o/p switch. The switch might be noticing drop from the supercharger pulling too much oil but I don't think it would cause it to drop to "o."
If this has happened to anyone please let me know, I hate replacing parts that don't need to be replaced.

I'm not familiar with the supercharger so that may have something to do with it. On my 2000 5.9 'rango, I had the exact same thing happen (pressure to zero, check gaugeson and then right back to normal). It was primarily at braking. Checked the oil and sure enough she was low. Topped her off and she was good to go. Sorry notas simple for you.
Mike:
I agree that you could have a wiring issue, and while you are checking that out, if it were me I would replace the 8 year old sender anyway. They are cheap, and since you also have an expensive supercharger depending on good oil pressure you need to know what is going on. I would hate to see anyone lose that kind of money over a part that is $25 or less.

I was thinking about puting a mechanical oil pressure switch with another guage in cab if the switch was the problem, does anyone know whether the stock switch is a grounding switch or and open circuit switch so I can get rid of it without the CHECK GAUGES light coming on.
