00 Durango Elec and Tran Problems
First time here, hoping for some help. Here's some background on the D.
2000, 5.9L, 4WD, 90K miles.
Had a miss about a week ago so I figured it was time for a tune up. Replaced cap, rotor, wires and plugs last weekend. Miss was gone, good power, ran great. Yesterday, noticed that rpms went a little high (3K) coming out of first. Ran some errands and stopped at store. Come out and no start. All lights, windows, etc working, just nothing happening at all when turning ignition. Battery about four years old and pretty well corroded pos. terminal so I replaced term and battery. Still no start. Finally tried starting in neutral and cranked up fine every time. So, neutral-safety switch is bad perhaps? Still have the first gear issue as well. Is this stuff all related somehow? Any help greatly appreciated!

I dont believe there is a neutral safety switch. If there is mine has gone bad too. Your Park safety switch may just not be making full connection. WHen trying to start in park, play with the shift lever, jiggle it a bit, forwards backwards, up down.....just see if its not making proper connection.
Try checking if you have any error codes.
cycle the ignition between on and off 3 times, and on the 3rd time stay in the on position. The error code will flash on the odometer. You can look up the code here (if you have any). I'm guessing that your tranny issue will throw an error code. Also make sure you have enough fluid in ur tranny, low fluid will cause wierd shifting.
Hope that gets you started, and once again, Welcome to DodgeForum
