hey everyone, i need some help, i recently had the check engine light on my 97 intrepid come on, i took it to Advance and they hooked it to the code reader, they got the code, which was 52, i have tried replacing everything and nothing seems to work, has anyone else had this problem? what is the most common causes of this problem, thanks in advance for any help,

From my 1st gen haynes manual

code 52 oxygen sensor singal input indicates rich fuel/air ratio condition during engine operation.

also from there which may help you

"A code is entered into the memory suggests a malfunction within another component that is not monitored by the computer. For example, a fuel pressure problem cannot register a fault directly but instead, it will cause a rich or lean fuel mixture problem. Consequently, this will cause an oxygen sensor malfunction resulting in a stored code in the computer for the oxygen sensor. Be aware of the interrelationships of the sensors and the circuits and the overall relationship of the emmsions control and fuel injection systems."

Im not experienced enough to say for sure but I would say it has to do with fuel pressure like that exscript from haynes says. Sorry if you have already tried that route.

That would be a MIL code 52 (obtained by the Malfunction Indicator Lamp, MIL). In other words, key on three cycles, light flashes, you count and translate into a number. What a P0052 (obtained by a scan tool) means is Heated O2 bank 2 sensor 1 heater circuit high. It's usually the sensor itself, but the power could be open.

Nathan, what "everything" did you replace? If you changed that 02 sensor (there are 4, get the right one from the store, they will tell you the location based on bank 2 sensor 1) then most likley a broke wire or bad connection. Of course it could always be the PCM, but not 95% of the time.
