Default 1995 Intrepid help

hey i am thinking about buying a 95 intrepid for my first car and the only thing wrong with it is that the gas gauge doesnt work on it.

Can anyone tell me if it is an easy or hard fix, expensive or not, or even the different possibilities of things that could be causing it?
Links to helpful sites would help also.

THANKS FOR INPUT

Default easy gas guage fix

there could be two things causing this. First one is that the guage itself is shot. simply take the dash apart and pull the guage straight out towards you. Plug another one in and you should be in business. You never did say if the guage works sometimes or moves up and down or what. Being your first car, you might want to be more specific in the future. It helps alot when trying to diagnose a problem. If that didnt fix your problem, then go to the trunk and pull your fuel pump out through the access panel in the trunk. You will find this right in the middle behind the rear seat, under the carpet mat. You will need a 8mm socket and ratchet, and a screwdriver. The part on the very bottom of the fuel pump is the part you need. You can get the whole fuel pump and everything from a junkyard pretty cheap. New will run about $140.00. Your dash guage will more than likely be the culprit. Good luck.
