Default How much longer do you think it will last?

I was just wondering. How much longer do you think my old 1997 Intrepid 3.5L 24 valve V6's 42LE will last? The reason why I ask this is I sold it to my uncle who is very hard-headed, subborn, and cheap. I've suggested to him on a number of occasions to flush the transmission fluid every 30K with ATF+4. He claims that's all a conspiracy made up by the oil companies and the transmission fluid is good for the life of the vehicle (in other words he has learned the hard way enough yet) and will not listen. The last time I had it done was the previous summer with 145K on it. It had 162,800 when I sold it. How much longer do you think it's going to last?

Depends how he drives it, really. I've seen transmissions that have never been touched go over 200k.

My 95 3.3L tranny has 243,000 on it, but I've changed, not flushed, the tranny with ATF+4 every 30k miles since I bought it with ~130,000 miles.

Oh, and replaced the filter too.

That being said, I've seen these tranny's never been touched and they seemed to go out about 150,000...... and some go +200,000. So ya' never can tell.

If you kept up with it till you sold it to him, maybe it'll be good for the long haul. And like the previous post said, It's all in how (and where) you drive it
