Default 1997 Intrepid smoking

I have a 1997 3.5l Intrepid sport that is smoking it has a code of p0175 and p0154 . What would cause this.
The smoke does not smell like burning oil. but smell like bad fuel.

determine the cause of the code and check for fuel leaks. seen injectors leaking commonly on these engines.

Both codes point back to one of the O2 sensors has failed. It is the ones before the cat and is causing the car to run rich which can cause it to smoke like a tar kill (Figure of speach). Try replacing the O2 sensors (the ones closest to the engine) to see if that helps out.

I know that there is a recall on the 1997 Intrepids with the 3.5L engines because the O-Ring around the injectors can cause them to leak and smoke and sometimes catch the car on fire. I have the same engine as you do (Even though my car is a base unit), so I know all about that recall and what all it does. It was already done to my car so I do not worry about it.

Both of the people who responded to you are right. However, the fuel problem is whats causing your 02 sensors to set a code. Thats why you smell fuel at the exhaust. Its not burning properly. We assume you have good spark plugs, and spark plug wires. If you haven't done these in quite some time...I would start there first.

I have Changed plugs, wires, and coil pack to get rid of a missfire codes of p0300,p0302,p0304,p0306.

And now it started smoking and has the codes p0154 and p0175.

Thank you for your input Iwill Change out the o2 sensors next.

Are you smoking under the hood or from behind at the exhaust? Did you find out what the codes mean? Did you fix the problem? If so, what was the answer? Hope you did it.

The misfire codes will probably show up again after you've driven about 50 miles or so. They are basically telling you that the even side of your engine has the misfire problem. Check just below your fuel rail on that side of the engine for any fuel spray or leaks.
