Default 95 Intrepid CVC problem

Greetings;

I have a 95 intrepid that started shaking in the front left side. Dudes at work mentioned that it's the CVC joint and to replace the whole shaft.
The wheel is tight lug nut wise and I cannot see anything else loose in the front end. When driving it will start when I acelerate and if I sterr to the left it will stop for a few but will start again. If I drive in a circle it will not do it.
I would have no problem with the shaft replacement skill wise but just want to be sure about it due to funds. Also due to funds I cannot take it in to a mech at this time.

Any help would be great.

Scott

I posted this in the general tech forum I just saw this one.

Drive the car at normal speed.Put your window down and take a turn to a street.If you hear a clicking sound that may be the sign of a bad cv joint.Jack the car up and take the wheel and make sure its in the lock position.If the wheel moves side to side you got a bad tie rod.I am going thru the tie rod senario right now and having them both replaced on the D/S on my 94 eagle vision.The cv joint on 1 side was replaced casue of the clicking sound.They arent that bad to replace if you wanna try and tackle it get a chiltons book on them and take your time.the cv joints i am not sure on prce but i think they werent to bad on them.
hope this helps out some.
thanks
pat

you can get reman halfshaft for about 100.00 takes about 30 to 50 mins depending on you mechanical abilities. jack it up and see is rubber boots are ripped on halfshaft if so there is your problem. clunking when turning is a definite sign of bad cv joint.

hi, i dont thinking that it is your cv joint from what you have said. I bad joint WILL make a chatter, clicking noise when you turn the wheel sharp, not going stright ahead and can have no other signs of wear. However the boots can rupture and let greese out and water in in which case the joint will fail if not corected. Also i've work with a fair amount of theese cars and in the pest few years with high km. and i can only remember 1 cv shaft joint that i have changed. id look at your wheel bearing, tires, etc before buying. hope this helps, kim
