Default 96 Intrepid 3.3 engine timing

HI. Could someone tell me how to time the 3.3 engine of my sister's car.
It just quit on her when she was slowing down to stop at a stop sign in town. The motor didn't make any crashing sounds, just stopped. It would not start. She was told that the timing chain had probably jumped some teeth. My bro. took the front cover off the engine and the chain was quite sloppy. He got a new chain for it but wasn't sure how to time the motor. He got some info from an engine rebuilder on how to time it, but it still wont start. It turns over but sounds like it is out of time.He didn't have access to a scan tool so she doesn't know what it would have showed. Any advise you have on how to time this thing would sure help. I'm new to this forum so I hope this will post. Thanks

Cam gear timing mark points at 6 oclock...crank gear at 12 oclock. If you guys are going to continue to work on this car get yourself a manual.

I wonder if that actual problem is a broken flex plate. I'm sure the master dodge mechanic has seen a share of those which causes timing problems and the car to stall and sound out of time when trying to start.

Seen them come completely apart and also have seen them separate in the center, shift a little and wedge back in but not appear loose on the surface. If you look up behind the inspection cover, many times you will see some really thin "cracks" fanning out from the center in all directions. I wish I had a pic....

Thanks for the info, guys. We're thinking the timing wasn't set correct. Will have to pull the timing cover, etc and do a check on it.
He put a new crank sensor on, but no go. Someone else suggested that the cam sensor may be defective. Do you guys think that is a possible choice that won't let it fire up, providing the cam timing is dead on?
The motor spins over, but gives a few sounds like small back fires, but it won't takeoff.

If you take the cover off and see that the sprockets are, in fact timed right don't assume anything until you look at the dowel pins and make sure one of them didn't shear off. That cam sprocket takes red "Lok-tite" when you go back together. 45 ft lbs torque.
