1996 Intrepid car alarm issues
Folks, need advise. I have my sons 1996 Intrepid at my residence and I am trying to figure out why the alarm system is not resetting.
He has had it at a mechanic (not a dodge dealer) and has been told its an aftermarket unit.
I did a bit more research using the VIN number and "by joe" the car included a factory alarm system.
I have been online researching all the options to reset it and the only way is to remove the negative cable, but then when I open the car door (with or with out keys and either passenger or driver, or locked or unlocked) it starts up again.
So now the questions:
1) where would the unit be typically located?
2) is there a way to bypass this or defeat it? Car has 138000 miles on it and in "moderate" shape.
3) he has no fob. would using the VIN number allow us to get a fob?
Guess I am trying all my options before we get it to a dealer. It would need to be towed.
Thanks
