94 3.3L Tranny Problems
I have a 94 Intrepid which has started to shift down hard from 2 to 1st gear usually just below 10mph. It doesn't do this all the time and sometimes it jumps to a neutral state before shifting down. I have also had it stuck in first gear before when I have started drivingbut when I stop and start the car up again I can get it to shift up. I also need to warm it up for a time before I can even put it into gear. Does this sound like it's pretty much shot or is there a chance I can save it? I took it down to AAMCO and there response was that it had something to do with the computer sensor but it's just a guess so I'm looking for some second opinions. Thanks a lot guys.
My 97 (3.5) had a speed output sensor go bad and it acted similar. I have an electronic speedometer and it also stopped working. You may have a cable to yours or the input speed sensor may be going bad. (I'm not quite sure what happens symptom wise when that one goes out) On my 97, they were both on the left (driver) side of the tranny, just aft and above the output shaft. The forward/upper one was the input sensor and the further aft one was the output sensor. Good luck
Hi;
I have a 94 Intrepid Which was purchased new and right after the warrenty went out. The transmittion would go into low gear espically when it was cold and I had to stop.
To cure the problem I would have to turn the engine off and restart the motor. To fix the problem a servive mechnic had to pull the transmistion and go inside a replace some seals.
We had no problems until 220,000 plus miles then we had to replace the transmission.
The car is in good running conditon the only oter thing was rebuild the front and rear suspension.
With all the miles no motor work has ever been done and the compression is with in specs.
Who knows it may go tomorrow.
Good luck!
