Default PCM issues after disconnecting

...95 Plymouth SOHC ATX. After I disconnect my PCM or battery while im doing maintenance I have problems getting it running again. The first time it never starts, which I think is normal because my truck does it too, but sometimes it will start and die immediately everytime after that. It seems the only fix I can come up with is to disconnect the PCM again and let it sit for a while then try it again. Sometimes it works the first time sometimes it takes 3-5 times of disconnecting/reconnecting. Any clues as to what would cause this?? No check engine light/codes when the car does run and no performance issues other than this. Thanks in advance.

Default RE: PCM issues after disconnecting

My neon sometimes dont start on the first try after a disconnect. On second turnkey attempt it usually starts with no problems. After a disconnect, the computer needs to relearn itself so it does a series of tests for about the first minute the engine runs.Hitting the gas during this time can mess up those tests, and the pcm wont be able to run those tests again till next start. So anotherwards you should'nt be hitting gas for a minute or so.Sounds like it could be a pcm problem, but a sensor out of whack could be causing problems also.I urge someone to correct me if Im wrong about the pcm, but thats how I understand it.An easy way to know if its pcm for sure is to try another one.......good luck
