Default 99 neon wont start

Was driving it around the other day, stopped at a friends house for a bit. went back out to go home, turned the key and it clicked once now it wont do anything. battery works fine. lights work...the only thing is the gauges dont come on when the key is in the on position. usually the check engine light at least comes on for one second, but it wont now...could it be the computer?

Do you get just one click or multiple clicks? Your battery may be slowly dying on you.

that happened to me

my lights in the car would randomly work and then usually my lights were really really dim

it ended up being the battery
so i got a new one and it works fine now

it won't hurt to check your battery!

It iscould just bea bad connection on the main battery cables although I have seen batteries do this when they go bad.
Check/clean and tighten the battery and ground connections both at the battery where they connect to the power distribution center, starter and engine block and body grounds.
Check the battery voltage it should be around 13.2 volts if the battery is good and charged and should stay above 10.5 volts when cranking (or attempting to crank).
